Which home improvement store do you prefer...Lowes or Home Depot?

Over the years there have been two leaders in the home improvement store business...Lowes & Home Depot. I have always preferred Lowes just because they always seem to have what I need & they always have great deals. I also like the look & feel of their stores. In addition they started giving 5% off when you use your Lowes credit card to make purchases. Which of the 2 stores do you prefer?

We usually end up finding what we need at Home Depot here. The store are right across the street from each other so they are pretty competitive.

I cant say either one, but, I can say my wife works at one of them (hint: its orange), and depending on the store you go to, you might have the best purchase experience ever, or you might get screwed because of the terribly poor management.

I am not a fan of either. I prefer Menards and I have had the best luck and by far the best service. I love it when I can get larger items delivered 35 miles from the store for free.

I do not notice any Lowes stores in my area. We have many Home Depot stores in cities around our town.

We are getting a Lowes store next year in the town closest to us, we currently do not have one. We have a Home Depot, however, they are not the greatest store. The staff at that store seem pretty ignorant to alot of the questions that you ask of them. I prefer Home Hardware, that is a wonderful Canadian chain.

I hadn't ever heard of Home Hardware, but then again I don't live in Canada. I think you will be very happy with Lowes when they open.

I shop at both stores depending on what I need. The brand of interior paint that I like is at Home Depot and they have a much better selection of flowers in the spring and summer. I have noticed that Lowes prices tend to be lower on most things. I always compare between the two online and then decide where to make my purchase.

I like Lowes but usually shop at Home Depot as it's only about 2 miles from where I live. I didn't know about the 5% discount...that's an incentive to drive a few more miles to shop at Lowes.
