People Actually Search Info For Products On "Facebook"?

More often than not, surveys at some point will ask (A), if you have a "Facebook" profile, and (B), if you have been to the page of whichever particular product the survey is.......surveying. Does anybody ever answer "yes" to this question? Do people really think, "hey, we need a new....whatever, so I'll go search the various manufacturers pages on Facebook"? And if they do, why? What if any is the advantage? Or the point? Whenever I'm needing info about a product, the last place I would look for it is on a particular manufacturer's website or "Facebook" page, I already have a pretty good idea what they're going to say about "THEIR" product(s)! For any online research I would depend on independent product review sites, forums, or blogs. etc..So, What if anything am I missing here?

I do not have a facebook, nor do I wish to have a facebook. I can communicate with anybody through my E-Mail and am perfectly happy doing so. My husband, however, does have a facebook page and thinks that it is absolutely stupid to say the least. I have read some of the things on facebook and I actually think that it is very comical. Does anyone really want to know when you last coughed or were constipated, or even worse, had a headache. How insane is all of this? I could never be a part of anything such as this. OMG

I'm with you. If I want unbiased information about a product, I turn first to my Consumer Reports subscription and then I go to something like Amazon or Overstock to see what others who have purchased the product say about it. If it's not sold on a site like that where people can post negative as well as positive feedback, then I turn to a site such as epinions. I, too, figure that the manufacturer isn't going to have any "poor" "recommendations" on a site that's trying to sell me the product!

The manufacturers are just trying to stay with the pulse of activity. I do not have a Facebook account, thus eliminating my issuing a "like". It gauls me that some retailers are directing me to go there, so I may acquire a coupon.

I dont like facebook and probably never will given that I just dont get the point of it.
As for firms having facebook pages, that kind of defeats the original purpose of the site in my eyes.

I don"t think that people could search on facebook in order to find some information about products. It is more for social life and chatting.
