Over the past few years cycling has had a poor image regarding drug use. I hope that recent activities in the identification of the various drugs used will make this years tour the cleanest ever. What do you think ?
I like Pringles and can pop and stop but, I have discovered Zesty Lime 'N' Chilli Pringles and am in trouble. Please help me with this unfortunate addiction.
With the weather being so warm it seems salad is the order of the day and that got me thinking as to the nicknames salad, especially green, is given. We tend to call it Rabbit Jock, Hamster Feed or Fodder. What name do you give it........
I personally think I will see the first bits and pieces by the 15th August, will proberly only be cards, but when I worked in a shop I got asked for an advent calender in July, I think the lady was very organised....
I am off to France next week with 50 year 8 students - aged 13 - and so I will not be around to see your polls and comments. Wish me luck and I wish you all the very best for the week ahead. Au revoir! Simon xx
If you read this book as a child did it worry you that little people lived under your floorboards or did you want to be a borrower? I always wanted to be Arrietty.
I'm going to my second mum's house this weekend to do her garden and I'm working on a border that is really claggy and stony. I've almost finished sieving the border and got out a lot of rubbish, but the soil is poor. What's the best thing to use to improve it in the short term and what can I do for long term results? If anyone could help I'd be extremely grateful. We've been working on this garden for a long time and this is the last problem area.
Number 1 Daughter and I have been growing potatoes in a container, well the old kitchen swing bin to be precise, all the flowers had died off, the bin felt helt heavy and there was at least half a ton of nice green healthy foilage sprouting from the top so we expected a bumper crop of spuds, out came the garden tarpoline, we up ended the bin and rummaged round for the fruits of our labour.
Did we get 100cwt, no of course not! How about 60lbs, no way! OK then how about 15lbs, no, way off track! What we actually got was one and a half pounds of potatoes, some the size of marbles, a couple were actually a decent size.
What went wrong, I hear you all ask............Well when we emptied out the bin the growing medium was bone dry, we were so frightened of over watering and causing them to rot that we actually didnt water them enough, still there were enough for tea, they were extremely fresh and the flavour was wonderful!!!!
We now have another purpose built potato planter which has begun to sprout and this time out spuds will get plenty of water.......Oh well you live and learn as they say!!!!!!!
